Happy Birthday, Mr William Shakespeare

23 April 2011 One Comment

I know, I know. I am suffering from writers’ block. I wonder if William Shakespeare ever stumbled upon a writer’s block. Probably. Or probably not. Anyway, it’s his birthday today and I am glad that he was born. Or at least those who wrote what is attributed to him were born. Francis Bacon, for instance. Be that as it may, I am sorry that I have been incommunicado. I wish I could use the excuse that I had a visitor from my India office to chaperon around California for the past 10 days. But really, who would buy that? Not you, I am sure. But ’nuff is ’nuff. Let bygones be bygones and get on with this post.

I will write a bit about my recent visit to Southern California. I had driven my colleague down to LA and San Diego last week Thursday, Friday and Saturday. (I lie. We went to Irvine and Carlsbad but then who knows where those one horse towns are anyway. It’s easier to just say LA and SD.) I took some pretty pictures along the way. I will post them. True promise.

Today I was listening to some music on the web. Here’s a bit that you may like. Or you may not. As they say, YMMV. Still do give it a listen. Pink Floyd. The Dark Side of the Moon. Actually, it’s not the original. It’s “The Dark Side of the Dark Side of the Moon” — by a bunch of different groups playing the songs of “The Dark Side of the Moon.”

…Every year is getting shorter
Never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to nought
Or half a page of scribbled lines

…for long you live
& high you fly
& smiles you’ll give
& tears you’ll cry
& all your touch
& all you see is all your life will ever be

Listen and enjoy. I will be back. In a bit.
