What can one expect from someone who can’t read an opposing view without reaching for a personal attack?

(I’ve done the same in many debates, Vaidehi, so don’t take it to heart. But it had to be said.:)

We don’t have to celebrate durga puja here to prove our hinduness, so maybe Prabhupada’s fillip was less than Nehru’s fillip here … and so we have a different perspective, k?

They’re all different expressions of Indians who had to deal with two two cultures. Like ourselves.

Both of them could burn in hell or be reborn dogs for all I care.:)

The Hindus living in anti Hindu Bangladesh told me it was Sri.Prabhupada’s Hare Krishna
launched therein , which gave them the much needed fillip to celebrate Hindu festivals including Durga Puja .

All said & done , Prabhupada chanted the name of Lord Krishna.

Unlike more British than the Brits nehru.

If the pot’s calling the kettle black … I didn’t see Nehru’s criticism of Prabhupada or wouldn’t have played devil’s advocate (in this case, canine).

I think Nehru stands criticized as a swedish dog. But he was doing what most educated hindu indians are doing in their 20s these days – eating meat, drinking alcohol, chasing skirt, being western, etc.

It’s taken 60 yrs for the rest to catch up. Sweden may find their dog population booming in a few decades.:p

Of course. If HRHK post their ‘professed position’ on their News Network, those of us reading it can reject it based on the ‘do unto others’ law – they’ve not been saints either to be casting the first stone at Nehru.

(And beyond that it’s all perspective: if he be dog, so be it in a dog-loving country like Sweden rather than on the streets of India. lol:)

I simply can’t understand this kind of posthumous trashing, esp in our times. I mean, how do we treat the really evil guys if this is how we treat the somewhat good.

I can understand how Prabhupada said what he did – it’s just an anglecized version of the Hindu Garuda Purana to talk about how they’re reborn.

Prabhupada did some good work in the West (not here) esp feeding the homeless/addicts in NY, but HRHK movement wasn’t/isn’t very welcoming of Hindu Indians, even in his time.

And syphilis, tertiary or otherwise, is common enough from Van Gogh to Nietzsche, Hitler to Idi Amin.
