I feel that dividing information into two types is very simplistic and it's not clear to me what your post says which is not obvious. More people use cell phones than, say, the internet and the market potential is huge. If we have PayPal and not something similar for the mobile marketplace, I think it's more because of the form factor and other technical and social hurdles in making this happen. People like cabbies, plumbers and grocery store owners are using mobile phones now. The payment channels are, of course, different. What if it is more like pen computing which will not achieve the critical mass? Even there the form factor didn't allow it to achieve critical mass.

I think that what you have suggested about actionable information available freely and enabling payment made on trades through the mobile phone,is another way of saying that the mobile phone should also be a computer with free access to the webworld.
Then not only these services will be available to the mobile user, but lots else too.
Or am I wrong about this?

Looking forward to getting a glimpse of your proposed solution. Perhaps just to compare it with mine. ;)

Cheers,

good, original post. But Atanu, there is a slight twist there. As you define, the 'type' of information is 'time dependent'! Meaning - what is Pure or actionable info can become a actionable or pure information depending on time, place and sitaution.

A mobile is 'back ground' device. Something you carry with you all the time and your use depends where and when you are.

The cricket score which may mean 'lucky locust' for you now may in some sense mean something when its 183 for 9 and India is on the edge of a win or loose situation. The then 'pure' information now becomes an actionable itemif there are 3 balls and 3 runs to win!

Its highly contextual and there rolls are interchangeable. A lenghty post but shall address some points you say that are 'worth' you salt soon this year in one of my post :D
