Bijoya Dashimi Greetings

Today is Bijoy Dashimi, the final day of the festival we Bengalis call Puja. Ma Durga–Mahishashurmardini–has returned to her abode after defeating the forces of evil. My greetings to you all on this joyous occassion.
Now it is time for me to sit and listen to Raga Durga, sung by Veena Sahasrabuddhe, to mark the end of Puja.

When would you guys understand it’s “Vijay Dashami” not “Bijoya Dashimi”, “Rasgulla” not “Roshogulla”.
Dear Atanu
Shubho Bijoya. On the subject of Pujo soundtracks, I am reminded of myself pandal-hopping near my para (near Vivekananda Park) circa 1994, and coming across a loudspeaker blaring L.A.Woman next to a gorgeous pandal. I wonder if the briddho bhodroloks and bhodromohilas knew what was being perpetrated under their noses by the callow misdirected youth of their para on this, the most august occasion for any Bengali. LOL – will never forget that moment. May the pujo spirit in Kolkata outlive us all.

Ghosh, you should have signed off as Gose.
Atanu,
I saw this fantastic painting of Mahishasura Mardini in the National Museum while on my trip to New Delhi last. I’m reminded of the same while reading this post of yours.
