		<description>Atanu,

You are confusing me :-). Slew of blogs reporting Indian economy growoing at a super speed and the per capita growing more than expected makes me think I am living in a land of roses and pain is a forgotten word.

Pls see
http://in.rediff.com/news/2005/may/02guest1.htm

fellow blogger writing on the WONDERs he saw on this trips to various cities in India

&quot;Even the poorest labourers at a construction site wore rubber Hawaii chappals. This is not true just in Bombay. I&#039;ve observed it during my trips to Pune, Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkatta, and across Madhya Pradesh. Even the poorest have some sort of footwear. Being barefoot was common twenty years back. It&#039;s not any longer. People can afford slippers, fancy sandals and shoes. Shoes! Look around. You&#039;d see more people decently shod today than at any other time in the past that I remember.&quot;

What are you complaining about ?

Don&#039;t you see people having their slippers on ?

Don&#039;t you see poor people using public
transport ?

Don&#039;t you see slums having their own small TV sets ?

Don&#039;t you see beggars using cell phones ?

Now, what are you complaining about. ?

Haven&#039;t you read Manmohans interivew to McKinsey ? Lots of good things are going to happen man. (althought no one saw any new development in the infrastructre... I continue to drive down the potty roads)

Read the &quot;India is rosy, so is the world&quot; primer at

http://indianeconomy.org/2005/07/16/much-ado-about-nothing/

and have a contended sleep.

Population ? oh well, cmon, see the stock markets man. Its amazingly going well. Its all fine man. Be assured of that.
