As always eloquently written. I wish I could vote for a politician like you. Sadly, most people believe the lies that these politicians tell. I am from Kanpur, and it’s in bad shape. My father tells me every year(as far as I can remember) that we will get roads this year and so far it hasn’t happened.

Anyways congratulations for the award. One of these days I will read your RISC report and strive to be part of the change you are trying to bring. Till then comments are all I can write.

Congratulations on winning Indiblogs!I think blaming the politicians for all the ills of society would be too easy a choice.There are several factors and the most important of them all is the lack of willpower on the part of “Good” people to come together for a public cause.Lack of viable alternatives for the ‘aam janata’,the public.When smart people lose faith in the system and abandon it,they allow themselves to be ruled by stupid, cunning, scheming politicians.We are still a country where majority of its people are in “survival” mode.When one worries constantly about the security of his job and food for his family,it would be too much to expect him to stand up against atrocities and solve societal problems.It is upto those who dont have these problems to sacrifice their comfort zones to make the lives of their brethren better.We need more people with the will of Vivekananda and the business acumen of Azim Premji.If Lalloo and Jayalalitha can work the system,am sure,the well-intentioned intelligent people can do a better job than them,if only they wanted to sacrifice their life for common good(including myself).India is caught in a system without accountability and that perhaps, is the fundamental flaw.And the people who should be asking the questions are too busy in their own lives waiting for someone to bell the cat!
