INtersting comments - but looks like our govt is going in excatly the opposite direction, but aren't you gettting a little carried away with the numbers (IIM's graduate around 300-350 * no of IIM's - A,B,C,L,K,I ) or do you consider all the other BSchools like SP Jain, XLRI, FMS, too- still?

Hi Atanu,

One more point is, imagine the lowered motivation level of students when they pay little fee.

What I believe is that, investing a large amount of money in quality education, with actually gives the motivation for the students to put more effors, b'cos they know that if the don't perform they are at a huge loss. As you say, its all about transaction costs.

With low transaction costs they know that they are not going to loose much even if they don't preform to the maximum level. The last think I want to see that happenning.

thanks,
Ramdhan YK

HI friends,
It's indeed a very great article on how to channelise the funds available out of an IIM education into Primary Education. But, sadly, our politicians don't seem to be listening to such excellent facts and calculations. i believe everyone heard about Government's proposal to decrease IIM education fee down to Rs. 15,000 per year. if such things happen, though it is beneficial for the students, the students may fail to realise the potential of the education. Afterall In India, the amount you pay for education is directly related to the quality of the Education received! any suggestions up to combat corruption and red tapism? becos only if those r removed can we ensure proper flow of funds for education and humanity related issues
