I would have an interest in buying up to 200 IP phones that will allow GSM and VoIP calls - they should have over 400 Mhz - what have you in stock? PDA's may also work if the are IP enabled.

Interestingly, the private sector is being strangulated to feed the Govt coffers. I am not in favour of the priavte dudes romping around to control the crucial sector of our economy. The govt. must step up it's spending here. Interestingly, BSNL is again one of the largest pan India players solely because it has a monopoly in the under served areas.

It's fibre reaches within 7 kms of any point in the country. Then why the slow pace of telecom spread?

Primarily, I feel that there has never been a sense of urgency; a sense of accomplishment. This post goes against your stand of opposing private monopolies.

Well, I believe this an old post. Now you would only see the cartelisation among the players under glorified COAI. Wither reforms? Scratch beneath the surface and primarily, there is no difference between any of the major operators. Just a thought though.

Your viewpoint is like a splash of cold water - hope that it gets people to wake up and take notice !

NB It wasn't Alice who was doing the running to stay in the same place - it was the Red Queen :)

Thanks, Dr. Malpani. I brought in Alice because she had to run to keep up with the Red Queen.

Begin quote:

... they were running hand in hand, and the Queen went so fast that it was all she could do tokeep up with her: and still the Queen kept crying, "Faster! Faster!" but Alice felt she could not go faster, though she had no breath left to say so.

... Alice looked round her in great surprise. "Why, I do believe we've been under this tree the whole time! Everything's just as it was!"

"Of course it is," said the Queen. "What would you have it?"

"Well, in our country," said Alice, still panting a little, "you'd generally get to somewhere else -- if you ran very fast for a long time as we've been doing."

"A slow sort of country!" said the Queen. "Now, here, you see, it takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice as fast as that."

End quote.

The outside world is the Red Queen's and India is like Alice's slow sort of a country.
